Jackalope Hotel

THE ONLY VACATION YOU’LL NEED.

Situated in the beautiful rolling hills of the Mornington Peninsula; 1 hours drive from Melbourne, Jackalope is my go-to destination that I could revisit endlessly without ever feeling bored. When I envision the ideal staycation, Jackalope immediately comes to mind—no second thoughts needed. It’s my number one recommendation for friends and family visiting Melbourne! There’s genuinely nothing else like it in Australia, or perhaps even the world. It’s a unique sanctuary that envelops you in tranquility, allowing you to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and truly savor the present.

// THE ROOMS

With only 44 luxury rooms and suites allowing for the ultimate peaceful atmosphere!

All rooms and suites being immaculately finished with attention to detail- ammenities such as heated flooring in the bathrooms, ghd hair dryers, and Tom Dixon products.

We had the pleasure of staying in the Lair, the largest suite. This room was simply perfect; I could easily see myself living here forever. It’s one of the most unique and impressive accommodations I’ve ever experienced. Waking up here is like that perfect lazy and clam Sunday yet any day of the week. Waking up in this place feels like enjoying a wonderfully relaxed and peaceful Sunday, no matter what day it actually is.

Some of my favorite aspects include the cozy built-in fireplace, the luxurious deep-soak Japanese tub, and the impressively stocked mini bar—though calling it a mini bar is a bit of a stretch, it was quite the opposite of mini. The stunning custom furniture and fittings by Zester and Christopher Boots create a truly exceptional oasis.

// DINE & DRINK

Boasting two chef hatted restaurants, the first, Rare Hare, exudes a bright and airy rustic charm, making it an ideal spot for a leisurely lunch. With breathtaking views of the vineyard, serving delicious, wholesome dishes crafted from local ingredients. On the other hand, Doot Doot Doot offers a fine dining experience with a more formal atmosphere, featuring a moody and playful ambiance that invites you to dress up and embark on a sophisticated culinary journey. I truly appreciate the delightful contrast between these two dining options, allowing for an exciting adventure without ever stepping off the property.

FlaggerDoot, the hotel bar embraces the craft of distillation. It presents an exciting cocktail menu that includes both beloved classics and inventive Jackalope specialties. The atmosphere is a delightful mix of styles; the inviting open fires creates a warm and inviting environment, while the artworks and installations by local artist Andrew Hazewinkel and famous designer Rick Owens infuse the space with a chic, sophisticated flair.

The in-room dining experience is excellent, and the complimentary choctops and popcorn available on request are just another beloved perk at Jackalope, ensuring you’re never left hungry between meals!

// THE PROPERTY

We can't overlook the essence of Jackalope, which lies in its vineyard and cellar. The LL Vineyard that was established in 1989, the 11-hectare Vineyard is dedicated to producing exquisite cool-climate chardonnay and pinot noir. Under the expert guidance of Head Winemaker Geraldine McFaul, the vineyard crafts some of the most refined single vineyard wines found on the Mornington Peninsula.

Other points of interest on the property include the breathtaking 30-meter infinity pool that offers stunning views of the vibrant vineyard. Additionally amenities, including the infrared sauna, and terrace overlooking the vineyard, which all are exclusively available to hotel guests.

// LOCATION

Just an hour's drive from Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula has established itself as the perfect spot for a weekend getaway. Surrounded by three stunning coastlines—Port Phillip Bay, Western Port Bay, and Bass Strait—this region boasts some of the finest food and wine experiences in Australia, along with fantastic golf, costal activities, and relaxation options. The local area has over 50 cellar doors to explore, acclaimed restaurants, beautiful beaches, rejuvenating natural hot springs, and picturesque national parks, it truly offers an ideal blend of coastal charm and countryside bliss with a side of luxury.
