The 5-star Intercontinental, Perth City Centre an IHG Hotel, beautifully blends contemporary with heritage. Boasting attention to detail at every aspect of this hotel.

Nestled in a prime position in the heart of Perth on Hay street, this exquisite hotel offers effortless access to a plethora of retail and entertainment delights. Directly opposite the hotel, lies His Majesty’s Theatre, a prestigious venue that showcases the Western Australian Opera, Ballet, and an array of captivating cultural performances. Just a short stroll further down Hay Street, shoppers can immerse themselves in the opulence of renowned brands such as Chanel and Gucci, among many others.

// THE ROOMS

Our room located on the second floor, offered an exquisite panorama of His Majesty’s Theatre, undoubtedly my preferred architectural gem in Perth.

The room was thoughtfully designed, showcasing elegant furnishings throughout. It boasted remote-controlled blinds, ample space for luggage, and a well-stocked mini bar that included a Nespresso machine along with a variety of snacks and drinks.

The bathrooms exude modern elegance and generous space, allowing for effortless organization of your personal items. Luxurious Byredo body products are provided throughout, and the water pressure is nothing short of exceptional.

// DINNING & BAR

For a drink, make your way to the Loft Lounge & Bar, where you can enjoy stunning views of Perth's iconic landmarks from the terrace—it's the ideal spot to relax before heading down for dinner. Loft Lounge & Bar features a diverse menu, offering a variety of options to satisfy every palate.

You can't miss the wood-fired cuisine at Ascua; we opted for the highly recommended tomahawk steak, and it was absolutely fantastic. A lovely detail was the selection of salts, allowing you to take home some Ascua-branded salt as a delightful memento of your stay. If you're in the mood for something different, Heno & Ray serves up delicious tapas and is a local favorite. The restaurants are conveniently situated on the ground floor, making it easy to meet up with friends or family who aren't staying at the hotel.

The daily breakfast at Ascua was truly exceptional, featuring gourmet ingredients and a wide range of chef-prepared options to satisfy every palate. Having experienced many hotel breakfasts, I can confidently say this one stood out, especially with the fresh juice station, unlimited complimentary barista-made coffee, and perfectly crafted omelettes.

For those staying in Club Rooms, Club InterContinental on Level 16 provides an exclusive selection of dining and refreshment options.

Club InterContinental provides a private luxury experience, characterised by extraordinary personalised service that transcends expectations. Guests are treated to a continuous array of refreshments throughout the day, complemented by exquisite offerings such as breakfast, the most delightful afternoon tea, and evening drinks accompanied by delectable canapés. This exclusive haven is reserved solely for those who have chosen to indulge in a club room, ensuring a private sanctuary for your utmost relaxation and enjoyment- we found this to be the perfect destination after a long day exploring Perth.

// THE AESTHETICS

The hotel’s aesthetic is a harmonious blend of heritage and modernity. The exterior proudly displays its historical facade, while the interior presents understated luxury, adorned with a tranquil and fresh palette of soft neutrals, elegantly highlighted by rich warm tones, shimmering golds reminiscent of fine metals and luxe soft furnishings. A breathtaking installation of hand-blown glass leaves gracefully descends from the lobby ceiling, beautifully combining both light and artistry. Throughout the premises, you will encounter an impressive collection of contemporary artworks, including captivating paintings and sculptures by talented local artists, alongside a thoughtfully curated selection of books. The guest rooms are equally refined, with attention to detail in every aspect that enhance the overall opulence of the five star experience.
